Siena Athletics Hall of Fame
Poetzsch was captain of the 1984-85 team that posted Siena's first Division I 20-win season (22-7). The 6’6” forward closed out his four-year career with nine school records, three of which still stand. He earned Academic All-America honors twice (1984, 1985), and was named Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention and ECAC North Atlantic All-Conference his senior year, the first Saint to earn All-American honors in the team’s Division I era. He averaged 12.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game during his career. Poetzsch also garnered major academic recognition, earning CoSIDA Academic All-American Honorable Mention status his junior year and Second Team All-America honors his senior season. He was selected to the MAAC Basketball Hall of Fame Honor Roll in 2014.
