Siena's first athletic scholarship recipient and first great star, Tucker played from 1938-42 and averaged 15 points in the days when an entire team scored 40, leading the team in scoring during each of its three years of existence. His game was described as best at long set shots, but capable of driving when the defender played too close. Tucker was one of Siena’s first team captains and went on to serve as an assistant coach for the team during the 1980's. Prior to that, he enjoyed a long and successful coaching career at Ravena High School from 1943-1976, heading the school's varsity basketball, baseball and football programs. In 32 years as the basketball coach, his teams held a combined record of 405-65. Prior to his time playing for Siena, Tucker also held the distinction of being the first high school player in New York Section 2 history to score 1,00 points, compiling 1,056 at Cathedral Academy in Albany. He was inducted into the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. He died on January 24, 1994.
