Siena Athletics Hall of Fame
Ken Hayner was a shortstop and third baseman during his Siena career. Hayner batted .308, drove in 74 runs and collected 134 hits. As a senior, he batted .384 and led the team with 43 hits. After his Siena career, he signed a free agent contract with the Utica Blue Sox of the New York Penn League. He was inducted into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012 and is also part of the Shenendehowa High School Athletics and Albany Twilight League Hall of Fames. He served as an assistant baseball coach at Siena and the University of Massachusetts in the 1980’s and spent a decade as the head coach at Hartwick College from 1988-98, where he was twice named the Empire Athletic Association Coach of the Year. He is currently the owner of popular Hayner Baseball & Softball Academy.
