Siena Athletics Hall of Fame
Playing on some of Siena’s most heralded golf squads, Tom Venter captured numerous golf titles while a member of the team, including qualifying for the ECAC Championships in 1968 & 1970. Playing under Hall of Fame coach Leo Callahan and alongside enshrined counterparts Charlie Murphy & Jack Callahan, he helped the squad win the MECAA team title in three of his four seasons on the time, including back-to-back championships in 1969 & 1970. Venter also allowed the linksmen to achieve an 11-1 record during the 1967-68 campaign, which stood as the most dual wins for Siena in its pre-modern golf history. A four-time qualifier for the New York State Amateur Championships, he remained one of the area’s leading golfers for years to come.
