Siena Athletics Hall of Fame
Schongar is remembered as one of the greatest wide receivers in Siena Football history. Upon graduation he held four Siena records, including career receptions (112), career receiving yards (1,951), average yards per catch (17.4 yards), and career receiving touchdowns (19). Schongar also established the single season records for most yards gained (686) and most TD's caught in a season (9), both set during the football club’s historic undefeated 1968 season. Schongar was first Siena athlete ever to be invited to pro football camp, earning a tryout with the New York Giants at their free agent camp in 1971.
