During Hogan's six-year tenure from 1979-85, the women's team compiled a 119-51 record, good for a .700 winning percentage. Hogan produced a winning record in each of his six seasons at the helm and is one of five Siena basketball coaches, men's or women's, to produce three consecutive 20-win seasons. His 1982 team won the New York State Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NYSAIAW) Division II championship by defeating Canisius, ranked seventh in the nation at the time. Hogan also oversaw the transition of the team from Division II to Division I status during the 1983-84 season.

Under his guidance, four players earned Academic All-American status and seven have joined him in the Siena Hall of Fame. Hogan earned a master's degree from Siena in 1967, and was inducted into the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. He was also a member of the Watervliet High School Basketball Hall of Fame and, in 2010, he was inducted into the St. Edward's University Golden Guard. He passed away on December 13, 2023 at the age of 87.
