Starring on the mound for the Saints from 1994-96, Christman was one of the top strikeout pitchers in program history, tossing 174 total K’s. He still holds the program record for strikeouts per-nine innings with 12.70 and owns the top-two single season performances in that category as well (1994 & 1995). As a freshman, he was named the 1994 MAAC North Rookie of the Year after posting a 2.59 ERA and striking out a freshman single-season record 61 batters in just 41 innings of work. That season, he also tossed the first no-hitter in program history against Niagara on April 9, 1994, which remains the only non-combined no-hitter for the Saints to-date. Christman was a two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week and was selected to the NYSCBCA All-Star Game as a freshman as well. Ranking top-10 nationally in strikeouts per-nine innings in both his freshman and sophomore season’s Christman held an 11-8 career record, while helping the Saints win MAAC Championships and advance to NCAA Play-In Series’ in 1995 & 1996. Drafted in 11th round of the 1996 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies, he worked his way through the team’s minor league system to become the third player in program history to make a major league appearance in 2001. Christman played professionally from 1996 – 2005, spending time with the Rockies, Florida Marlins, and Seattle Mariners organizations, as well as the Northern and Atlantic Leagues of independent baseball. He later served as an assistant coach for the UAlbany baseball program.
