A three-time MAAC First Team selection (1997-99), Donovan was named the 1999 MAAC North Player of the Year and helped the Saints to much success of the field. He aided Siena in winning the 1997 and 1999 MAAC titles, with the latter team advancing to the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. A career .372 hitter with 158 career knocks, he hit .306, .307, and .371 in three seasons with the program, totaling 78 stolen bases. He still holds the top-2 single-season stolen base totals in program history, swiping 36 bags in 1997 and 30 in 1999. Donovan also logged 11 career triples, which is tied for second in Siena’s career ranks.

One of the highest draft picks in program history, Donovan was selected in the eighth round of the 1999 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres and enjoyed an 11-year professional baseball career within the Padres, Dodgers, Orioles, Indians, Rangers, Athletics, and Blue Jays organizations. He led all of professional baseball ball with 65 stolen bases in 2005 and set a professional record by scoring a run in 19 consecutive games (8/7 – 8/31, 1999). Donovan went on to work in the scouting industry in Major League Baseball, spent two seasons as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Seattle Mariners, and is currently a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was also inducted into the East Lyme High School Football Hall of Fame (2008), the Connecticut Sports Foundation Football Hall of Fame (1996), and the Niantic American Legion Post 128 Hall of Fame (2010).
